2 Timothy 3:1–5, 10–12, 14; 4:1–5
“Never give up; never give in.” This could have been the motto of the apostle Paul’s life. Marked by grace and grit, Paul didn’t know the meaning of quitting. Despite constant hardship, physical abuse, emotional anguish, verbal assaults, false accusations, unrelenting pressure, frequent misunderstandings, multiple imprisonments, and heartbreaking abandonment, Paul pressed on toward the prize of knowing Christ. Quit simply wasn’t in the man’s vocabulary. We ought to erase it from ours as well. And we can if we’ll hear and heed Paul’s last words to his friend, Timothy.
