Insight for Living UK Ministry Update - Jan 2012

The New Year is typically a time for looking ahead with anticipation for all the future holds. At Insight for Living UK, we have a genuine excitement and encouragement about our ministry – a feeling based on God’s continued goodness and faithfulness over the last five years.

As always, we are thankful to Chuck and Cynthia Swindoll for their commitment to the UK & Europe ministry, for their prayers, for Chuck’s excellent Bible teaching and the range of resources Insight for Living USA creates with us in mind.

The past twelve months have been a time of consolidating the growth of previous years. To give you an idea; when we established the charity five years ago, Insight for Living USA paid 65% of the UK ministry’s annual cost. By the end of June 2011 we had reduced this by 17% (£137,525). This is due to the hard work of our small staff, backed up by the dedication and wise counsel of our UK board. We praise God that our regional listeners are now financially supporting the UK ministry more than Insight for Living USA, and we trust that the Lord will continue to provide for the UK Charity in this way. It’s a significant step toward our goal to become increasingly self-sufficient in the UK.

Our commitment to biblical truth and its application continues to be unwavering. We’ve increased the availability of Bibles through our online store and Dr Terry Boyle continues to preach throughout the UK whenever an invitation comes his way. In addition, I am excited to let you know that in March 2012 we will be releasing his new book, The Way of Lament: A biblical approach to God in times of pain. You will be able to get it direct from our UK office.

We are also aware of the need to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to young and old alike. This past November, we let you know about our range of Paws and Tales DVDs, which helps parents teach biblical theology to their children through memorable, meaningful stories and music. We’re encouraged to see more and more parents taking advantage of these great resources. If you haven’t yet seen them, why not order copy for your child or grandchild today?

Looking ahead, we are excited with all that God has in store for the ministry of Insight for Living UK. We continue to develop our strategy for how we can best teach and encourage people in the truth and application of God’s Word. We are always grateful for feedback from our supporters, and to this end we’ve included a general ministry survey with this month’s edition of Insights. I would be grateful if you could take some time to complete the questionnaire, as your replies will serve as a catalyst for much discussion on the future of the UK ministry. We are strongly committed to seeking new and effective ways to make an impact for Christ through our biblical programmes, materials, and pastoral care.

Finally, for those of you who have indicated an interest, I’ve provided a summary of our income and expenses for our latest completed financial year (July 2010 – June 2011). We are truly grateful for your support of the ministry as we help you and countless thousands apply the Bible to everyday life. Please continue to pray for an increase in charitable giving. Without you, and an increase in regional donations, strong Bible teaching could disappear from UK radio.
