The Gospel of Luke records a specific moment when Jesus determined it was time to go to Jerusalem for the last time. The narrative of that journey occupies a significant portion of the middle of Luke’s history. Clearly the things that were said and done on that journey are of great importance, since they speak to us today not only about Christ’s obedience to God’s will, but also our own commitment to following Him. For Jesus, this journey would end in Jerusalem and culminate in the Cross. For us, obedience to Christ’s call has its own costs, and the decision to journey with Him is not to be taken lightly.
