King Ahab of Israel took a Phoenician princess to be his wife. The problem is, he took her false gods into the bargain, and polluted the worship of the northern tribes. The prophet Elijah chose the sharp ridge of Mount Carmel as the site for a showdown. When Elijah demanded they choose Baal or the One True God, the people of Israel were literally on a knife-edge!
