Capernaum was a busy commercial town on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee. It was here a paralysed man was brought to Jesus, and according to Matthew 9, Jesus promptly forgave the man of his sins. The theologians in the crowd knew that only God could forgive such sins, and Jesus made sure that the point wasn’t missed.
