2 Samuel 12:1-15
The deed was done. Whispers of a scandalous nature buzzed around David’s palace, but no one dared say a word to the king. His bride of a few months was obviously pregnant . . . bringing a mute reminder of that fateful spring night when adultery stained the record of the king’s reign. And murder. And hypocrisy. And continued deception. And a silent cover-up. David revealed the way the guilt took its toll on the monarch, even though he kept silent about his sin and refused to repent (Psalm 32:1–4). That is, he refused until a man of incredible courage and bold honesty stood eyeball-to-eyeball with David and exposed the truth of his deeds and deception. Let’s honour that man—the prophet Nathan.
