While we tend to think of Paul as the missionary apostle, there were others in that first group of eyewitness ambassadors who made journeys of their own. Some near, some far. Each one had his distinct style, and each had his particular part to play in the expansion of the Gospel message. In the fifth and final volume of the Gospel Journeys series we learn about the dynamics of the Christian community in its first generation by tracing the footsteps of Peter, James, and John. These three all started out as fishermen from Galilee, and they comprised Jesus’ inner circle of confidants. They saw Christ’s glory in the Transfiguration, and they saw His grief in Gethsemane. But regardless of their being such a tight band of three, their life journeys took them in very different directions.
