Romans 4:16 – 25
Having stated the grand doctrine of justification by faith (Romans 3:28) and having illustrated it through Abraham in chapter 4, Paul continued to affirm Abraham’s steadfastness in faith. Today’s message calls to mind the occasion when aging Abraham resisted the persuasion of logic, ignored the human limitations of physical impossibility, and even denied the urgings of his own common sense as he deliberately and decisively believed the promise of God — regardless of the possible consequences. Instead of waffling in unbelief, Abraham stood strong in faith, absolutely confident in God. Let’s review God’s promise to Abraham and rediscover its relevant implications for us today.
