You may remember the old saying, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” If you don’t know what you believe, then you’re ready to accept whatever somebody else believes. So when it comes to standing strong and standing alone if necessary, you can’t beat knowing the truth—really knowing the truth. This was the problem in the Colossian church; they stood on the truth, but the reverberation of false teaching had shaken their foundation, making them vulnerable to fall.
