Ezekiel was part of the first wave of deportees taken from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar in 597 BC. He was to have been a priest, had he been in Jerusalem. Instead he was commissioned as a prophet to speak to the exiles in Babylon, most of whom were prominent and wealthy, and expected to return soon to their homes in Judea. God was keeping His promise to judge. The question was: would He keep His promise to restore?
