After the arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane, they paraded Him through a series of informal – we might say illegal – trials. The authorities were already settled on their verdict before any of those interrogations took place. They wanted Jesus dead and gone, they saw Him as a troublemaker. His teachings threatened their prestige and intruded on their comfort zone.
