The Overcomers follows three journeys unfolding at once. Staci struggles to feel heard by her friends, a vulnerability that a wicked vulture exploits to isolate her. Tiller, a young and prideful elk, is manipulated by the evil Mortimer Owl into starting a fear-based church, gaining power and control through intimidation, before finding his way to something far more humble and true. Finally, Smidge, a young badger, sets out to find his place in the world, eventually coming under the wing of Crockett, an overcomer.
Each of these stories, written for the ten-to-twelve-year-old in your life, runs alongside the others to reveal how the enemy uses fear and isolation to cast shadows over our hearts and minds. Yet each story also points to the greater truth: God’s light always pierces the darkness, empowering us to overcome fear and walk in the freedom He offers.
