1 Samuel 17:1-54
All of us are much more familiar with the names of believers in the Scripture than unbelievers . . . with one exception: Goliath. Hands down, Goliath is doubtlessly the most famous heathen in the entire Bible. Christians and non-Christians alike are able to relate the story that transpired centuries ago in the valley of Elah. But there is so much more than a shepherd lad who killed a giant. Between the lines of the account in 1 Samuel 17 are timeless, relevant, usable principles that apply to us as we face the “giants” of our own world—giants that are dwarflike when compared to the One who empowers us.
