Planned Giving: A Legacy of Faith and Joy

Remember this —
a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop.
But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
You must each decide in your heart how much to give.
And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure.
“For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

2 Corinthians 9:6–7

One of the themes in the Christian life is the joy of leaving a legacy. Each of us is writing a story, not only in the pages of our own lives but also in the lives of those we touch. That truth shapes not only how we live but also how we give.

At Insight for Living UK, we often talk about the transforming power of God’s Word. Day after day, we witness how the Scriptures penetrate hearts, restore marriages, encourage the lonely, and bring hope to the hopeless. And here’s the marvellous truth: this ministry has been able to reach across the globe for more than four decades because of faithful friends who have given generously—not just in the moment, but also with an eye toward the future.

That is where planned giving comes in.

What Is Planned Giving?

Planned giving is a way of supporting the Lord’s work that looks beyond a one-off gift. It’s a prayerful, thoughtful decision to align your resources with your faith in such a way that your giving continues even after you’ve gone home to be with the Lord.

Planned giving involves foresight. It considers not only your present resources but also the future stewardship of your estate. In other words, it allows you to say: “When I leave this earth, my testimony will continue. My faith will speak. The Bible will keep being taught.”

There is great joy in knowing that the seeds we plant today will keep bearing fruit long after we are gone.

Ways to Give Through Planned Giving

Planned giving can take many forms—each one a unique reflection of your heart and circumstances.

Bequests in a Will or Trust: Perhaps the most common way of planned giving is through including a ministry like Insight for Living UK in your will or living trust. It’s a simple step, but one that can make an eternal difference.

Charitable Gift Annuities: With this option, you give a gift now and receive a stream of income during your lifetime. Then, at the end of your life, the remainder blesses the ministry. It’s a beautiful way to provide both for your needs and for God’s work.

Beneficiary Designations: You can name Insight for Living UK as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance policy, or even a bank account. Sometimes it’s as easy as filling out a form—yet the impact stretches into eternity.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets: Stocks or other investments can also be gifted in ways that maximise both your stewardship and your tax benefits.
Each method carries its own unique advantages, but all share the same eternal value: they extend your ministry partnership into the future.

Why Insight for Living UK Depends on Planned Giving

You may wonder, “Why is this so important?”

Simply put, Insight for Living UK exists to teach the Bible clearly, consistently, and compellingly until Christ returns. We depend on the generosity of God’s people to keep that vision alive. Every day, we hear from listeners across the world—from soldiers stationed overseas, to pastors in remote corners of Africa, to families here at home—whose lives are being changed through the truth of God’s Word.

But broadcasting, translating, publishing, and training require resources. And as the world changes, so do the opportunities. Planned giving ensures that when new doors open, we’re ready to step through them without hesitation. It gives stability to this ministry so that we can remain focused on what matters most: proclaiming God’s Word with integrity and joy.

When you include Insight for Living UK in your long-range plans, you are helping to ensure that long after we are gone, the Bible will still be taught clearly and with compassion. Think of it: generations not yet born will hear about Jesus Christ because of your faithfulness today.

The Joy of Leaving a Legacy

Think of planned giving as planting an orchard rather than a single tree. A one-off gift is like planting a tree—it provides shade, fruit, and beauty for a season. But when you plan your giving with the future in mind, you plant an orchard. Your children and grandchildren—and countless brothers and sisters in Christ around the world—will be nourished by its fruit for years to come.

Several years ago, Insight for Living fell short of its Fiscal Year End financial goal. Days later, we were notified that a legacy gift was coming. This precious family started giving to Insight at the turn of the century and became Monthly Partners for five years faithfully giving modest amounts. The donations stopped, and twelve years passed. Then, in God’s perfect timing, IFL received more than the shortfall from a family we had no idea had named Insight for Living as a beneficiary in their family’s trust decades before. But God knew when Insight would need that bequest to continue ministry; and He has always faithfully provided everything we need just when we need it. – Insight for Living Donor

There is deep, abiding joy in knowing that your legacy will point people to the Saviour. What could bring you more joy than that?
