Will You?

There were many things that I admired about my father, but one thing that stands out was his attention to detail…not only in the now…but for the future as well. As cancer took its firm hold on his body, he knew his time on this earth was nearing the end. But long before this he wanted to make sure that he thought through and planned for the legacy he would leave.

I remember when I arrived at his house to start care of him, he pointed to a big binder on the dining room table. “It’s all there Scott. Every detail to help you and your Mom after I’m gone,” he said. Sure enough…before it was too late and he was unable to physically or mentally take action…he set things right and made his wishes known with helpful instruction. This certainly got me thinking, as a Christian, about my own planning and what kind of legacy I am creating now and leaving for the future.

Perhaps you too have begun to reflect on this important topic. Maybe Chuck’s recent teaching on Creating a Legacy gave you an opportunity to search and learn from the Scriptures, and better yet…apply them to your life so that you could make an impact in the lives of those around you. You may have responded with a one-off gift to help keep this unwavering Bible-teaching on the radio, Internet, or in print. Maybe you’re one of our faithful friends that makes a gift each and every month. But what happens when you leave this earth for your heavenly home?

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21

What treasures has God entrusted to you? Part of being a godly steward of these treasures we’ve been blessed with is to prayerfully consider how we spend our money now, invest it for the future, and pass it on to the next generation. Many people are unaware that a legacy gift can be designated to a ministry that you faithfully support and care about. At Insight for Living UK, we believe that a gift in your will, however large or small, makes a lasting difference to the next generation.

“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” – Psalm 90:12

God wants us to give to Him. It’s an act of worship. When we give to Him, we put our money where our hearts are. So…will you? Please…consider partnering with us by including Insight for Living UK in your will. Your support in this way will ensure that we can continue this gospel work beyond your lifetime and bless those who follow with solid Bible-teaching ringing true in their ears and resonating in their hearts as they grow in wisdom and stature.
